Colonoscopy is called intra-colon examination and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with a colonoscopy device. Colonoscopy is performed by a qualified physician and takes about 30 to 60 minutes. In a colonoscopy, the doctor uses a colonoscope (a long, flexible, tubular instrument about 1.2 inches in diameter) that shows images of the colon and helps the physician investigate abnormalities. The colonoscope enters the body through the anus and continues to the distal end of the colon.

Objective visualization of the bronchi and collection of specimens for testing is performed by a bronchoscope.
